A wild Scottish elopement in the forest
Is there anything more absolutely ✨ICONIC✨ than running away to Scotland and getting married deep in the woods with nobody else but each other? We’d love to hear it if there is!
Gina and Calum did exactly that ~ booking an old toll cottage on a bridge and getting married deep in the woods in Perthshire. We were the only people they took with them and we were more than happy to be their witnesses as well as capturing their amazing love story in the frankly embarrassingly beautiful Hermitage.
We arrived at the woodland and waited with anticipation for Gina + Calum and their celebrant, Rachel to arrive. We had a quick scout around but we didn’t have long to wait. Gina had chosen a tradition-bucking black dress and Calum looked dapper in top to toe black.
We had the standard Scottish showers as we wandered our way out into the woods to the spot they had chosen to make their vows to each other but by the time their ceremony was ending so was the rain and we were able to ditch the brollies. They had chosen a spot under some amazing, huge pine trees and the celebrant prepared the spot with a circle of ivy for them to stand in and share their promises. There was even a cheeky extra forest guest while they were saying their vows ~ a tiny robin was hopping around and keeping an eye on proceedings, making sure everyone was behaving themselves in his little woodland clearing.
We went into the Hermitage shelter itself to do all the legal signing ~ did you know it’s absolutely legal to get married anywhere you want to in Scotland? We can’t wait until we can do this in England too ~ imagine some of the elopements we’ve photographed but without having to do any boring registry office nonsense to make it all legal!
Gina and Calum had decided to head off for some food and we went and explored a nearby town ~ we agreed to meet up a bit later on and capture some more photos around the woods, with the waterfall and all the other incredible views and features on offer. Scotland never disappoints and the Hermitage is absolutely no exception ~ Rob started talking about moving to Scotland again, just like he always does when we get to go places like this.
We couldn’t wait to shoot this wedding, we knew from the first chat we had with Gina and Calum that their wedding would be an absolute Snow White fantasy but it was beyond all of our wildest hopes. Thank you so much to Gina and Calum for bringing us along on your amazing fairy tale wedding ~ we are so happy we got to capture it for you and bring our whimsical style to what was an absolutely magickal day.
