A proper hobbit-y wedding day

Rosie and Mike contacted us 8 weeks before their wedding ~ EIGHT WEEKS! There’d been a bit of a mix-up with their previous photographer, so they were on the hunt. Luckily for them, we were available! And after finding out more about this epic day they had planned, we jumped at the chance to capture this day for them.

They had planned a fun, relaxed wedding day at Lineham Farm in Leeds. It’s a converted barn wedding venue, with lots of fields to frolic in, and some very friendly ponies and goats to keep you company on your wedding day.

They started the day with a handfasting in the woods, surrounded by their fellowship and the sound of the wind in the trees. Rosie wore an amazing pastel rainbow sequin gown, plus the most epic glittery platforms! While Mike waited at their home-made altar decked out in blue velvet. Their ceremony was conducted by one of their friends, making it super heartfelt and personal as they bound their hands in ribbon.

From there their wedding day moved on in a super relaxed way. With no wedding co-ordinators rushing them to get sat down or start their speeches, they were able to hang out in the sun with their guests and simply enjoy the day. It was the perfect day for our laid back style of photography, as we mingled with guests capturing the laughter and celebration in a way that was un-obtrusive and let the day progress without direction.

They held their speeches outside, everyone gathered in the court yard, after partaking in the hobbit themed banquet. We loved capturing all the in-jokes, and massive rounds of applause they all received.

Then the moon rose. A beautiful full moon in the purple-pink sky, and we just knew that this was a perfect moment to create an unforgettable experience. After telling Rosie that the moon looked amazing, she dragged Mike out to the field and we all danced in the moonlight.

This is what they had to say about this moment: “There was a pretty special moment where you guys came up to us and said - 'have you seen the moon...?'' 30 seconds later we're legging it out into the twilight getting some daft snaps that turned out absolutely lovely”

It’s one of the key things we love on a wedding day, not just crafting beautiful photos but also making sure our couples have an amazing time while you have them taken.
