Not every wedding needs a packed timeline or a huge guest list to feel unforgettable.
Rachael and James chose to celebrate with a beautifully intimate ceremony at Leeds Civic Hall, surrounded by their closest family, before spending the afternoon doing something that felt completely like them – wandering through their favourite city together.
It also happened to be one of the hottest days of the year.
We met them outside Leeds Civic Hall, where the grand stone steps were basking in sunshine. Thankfully, the beautiful atrium inside offered a welcome escape from the heat while guests arrived, and it made the perfect setting for those quiet moments before the ceremony.
With just their nearest and dearest present, their Leeds registry office wedding felt wonderfully relaxed and full of genuine emotion. These smaller celebrations have such a lovely atmosphere; there's space to slow down, soak everything in, and spend real quality time with the people who matter most.
As we'd never photographed Rachael and James before, we leaned on our Magick Method, which helps us quickly understand how each couple naturally interacts and what makes them feel most comfortable in front of the camera. With just a little gentle guidance, they relaxed into the afternoon, forgot about the cameras, and created photographs that feel completely true to them.

The sunshine was relentless, so after the ceremony we found the shade of a nearby tree for family photographs before setting off on our little adventure through Leeds.
One of the things we love most about our Chapters package is that it leaves room for weddings to unfold naturally. Instead of rushing between locations, we simply wandered.
We strolled alongside the canal, explored the city streets and ducked into Whitelock's, the oldest pub in Leeds, tucked away down a narrow alley just off the bustling shopping streets. A cold pint for the newlyweds, an ice-cold Coke for us, and a few minutes to pause before heading back out into the sunshine felt exactly right.
From there we wandered beneath the beautiful glass-roofed arcades before spotting a little record shop that couldn't have been more perfect. Browsing the shelves together made for some wonderfully natural moments, and, of course, a few portraits that felt effortlessly cool.
A few hours later we arrived back where their families were waiting to celebrate over a meal, and that was where our story with them came to an end.
This wedding was such a lovely reminder that the best photographs don't come from elaborate plans — they come from giving people the space to be themselves.
